Job Description
Our client, a private equity investment firm, is looking for an experienced Fund Controller for their Luxembourg office.
The group is active in asset management and development of real estate (includes light industrial, hotels. mixed use, residential) within their European locations so you will get to work closely with the businesses and make a meaningful contribution.
You will be responsible for the accounting and reporting functions of the unregulated funds (SCSP’s) including the underlying structures. You will have oversight of the external service provider and take ultimate responsibility for accurate and timely completion of the deliverables.
You will have an excellent understanding of the various businesses, and be the main point of contact for the auditors and stakeholders. You will be able to confidently address queries, and provide support due to your technical accounting knowledge.
The team in Luxembourg is small but busy. This will suit you if you are seeking a role where you can be autonomous, stimulated by interesting work, and appreciate being able to mostly work from home (if Lux based) with good work/life balance in a mature, pleasant working environment.
The role:
• Financial and regulatory reporting - Ensuring timely and accurate production of financial reports of funds and SPVs produced by third parties under IFRS and/or LUX GAAP.
• Oversight of the day-to-day accounting of the fund structures.
• Proactive management of the relationships with service providers.
• Review financial statements under Lux GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
• Preparation of budgets and financial forecasts with variance analyses.
• Monitoring operating budgets.
• Responsible for reporting on liquidity and cash management of investments.
• Ensure direct and indirect tax filings are managed.
• Ensure that all fund vehicles remain tax and legally compliant and that adequate controls are in place.
• Oversee the year-end audit process in co-operation with the auditors.
• Main point of contact for auditors, tax advisors and stakeholders.
• Preparation of the investor reporting for all Luxembourg domiciled funds.
• Providing assistance with various analysis and special projects as required.
Candidate Requirements
• Minimum of 5 years of working in a similar financial control role within a service provider or alternative funds asset manager.
• Fluent in English, written and spoken. Fluency in either German or French advantageous.
• LUX GAAP essential. IFRS advantageous.
• Experience in preparing direct and indirect tax calculations.
• Good organizational and deadline management skills.
• Good numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Pro-active and solution-orientated.
• Ability to work independently with a hands-on approach.
